about

These works are based on a series of field recordings made during a residency at the Teide Observatory, Tenerife, Spain, in March 2017: inside the dome of the IAC-80 Telescope during operation; the spinning telescopes of the QUIJOTE Cosmic Microwave Background Experiment; the slowly moving mirrors of the Pyramide Solar Telescope; a flagpole in the wind, steps in freshly fallen snow and an unexpected hail shower. All field recordings recorded in Ambisonic B-Format.

Additional recordings 2018-2020 at Bog Road Studios, Dundalk, Co. Louth, Ireland.

Mixed and mastered at Herds House Studios, Hilltown, Co. Westmeath, Ireland.

A previous version of Cupula was presented as a multichannel audio-visual installation by

Emer O Boyle and David Stalling at The LAB, Dublin, as part of the exhibition Future Proof curated by Sheena Barrett and Emer O Boyle, 2017.
